I Said I’d Call

May 2, 2012 11:00 pm

Hey friends!

I’ll admit, it’s been far too long.  I know I’m like that date that says they’ll call and then never does… which is lame.  But I’m changing my ways!  I’ve had a really busy couple months, so let me fill you in and maybe you’ll forgive me.

I was sick of having to hunt people down to do my graphic design for me.  So I took a class! I can now use Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign without feeling like a total moron.  Huge win!

I was sick the disconnect between me and my fans/potential fans on UNC-CH’s campus and locally, and I figured that other artists were having the same problem.  After asking around and finding some other people who are really passionate about local music, I decided to dive in and get to work founding Resound Magazine, UNC-CH’s first online campus music culture magazine.  We worked hard this semester to gain official UNC-CH student organization status, build an extremely talented staff of 40, and create content for our launch.  On Saturday April 21st, we launched the website with a live concert at Local 506 where I got to play full band sets alongside local acts Turchi, JSwiss, and Morning Brigade. It was an awesome celebration of what we’ve been able to accomplish.  Be sure to check out the website!

And then most recently I got sick of having a website I couldn’t easily update.  So I changed it!  Starting out I knew NOTHING about how to manage all of this but I’m slowly learning.  I want to make CKM.com a place that’s always changing and updating.  It will always be the most up-to-date place to go when you want to know what I’m up to.  I’m also going to make a serious effort to blog consistently.  But I’ll warn you in advance- that means it’s going to get random sometimes.

Anyways, I can’t thank you guys enough for being so stellar and sticking around.  This is me returning your call like I said I would 3 months ago.  I’d like a second date.

Peace, Love and Mountain Dew,

Catie
